    • NOTE:

      He was first recorded in 1658 in Reading, Ma. where he had 40 acres of land. In 1667 he was recorded as one of 59 who owned a house. His ancestry may have been from France through Scotland. One family tradition stated his father was born in France and he was born in Scotland.

      George Lilly is said to have sailed from England to America in 1658 but no original source is given. He lived in Reading, Massachusetts in 1658. In 1683, he was a School master at Woodend near Reading.

      From page 1 ' Lilly-Lilley-Lillie - Family History by Julius Whiting Lilly, "He drew land at Reading, Mass. in 1658, and 40 acres on the north side of the Ipswich River, Feb. 4, 1658, and 40 acres on the north side of the Ipswich River, Feb. 4, 1658 or 1659. He also drew land in 1685."

      From page 618 'The Connecticut Nutmegger' Vol 18, #4 March 1986, Pub by CT Society of Genealogists, Inc. Glastonbury, CT. "George Lillie was first recorded in Reading, Middlesex County, Mass. in 1658 where he had forty acres of land. In 1667 he was recorded as one of fifty-nine who owned a house. His ancestry may have been from Frane through Scotland. One family tradition stated his father was born in France and George was born in Scotland."

      From page 620, "Editor's note; The only genealogy of the family was an unprinted typescript bound by The Los Angeles Public Library in 1930, entitled Lilly-Lilley-Lillie Family History, by Julius Whiting Lilly, 138 pages. The descendants of the families spelled the name Lillie, Lilley and Lilly, and those were the three common forms of the name. The first three generations spelled the name as Lillie. The above article was submitted by Mrs. Charles Lilly along with a letter requesting additional information on Lillie descendants for the prupose of publishing the genealogy on that family. Send all data to Mr. Charles Lilly, 10311 1/2 Santa Monica Blvd, West Los Angeles, CA 90025."
