The Lucius family came to the U.S. from Belgium; in 1857 on the same boat were Mary Mann's parents and all her siblings from Bavaria.
Descendants stated that both Henry and Mary (Mann) Lucius could speak fluent German and taught the language to their children. It is also mentioned the Henry Lucius was anxious to get to America so he could avoid military service, since he was the only son of a widowed mother.
Henry Lucius was naturalized in 1866, and his papers read as follows"

I, Henry Lucius, an Alien and native of Belgium, Germany, being duly sworn, depose and say: That I first arrived in the United States in the month of December A.D. 1859, under 18 years of age, and that it is confide for 3 years last past, my intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly all allegiance and fidelity to the King of Belgium whose subject I am.

Henry and Mary (Mann) Lucius, both who could read, write and speak English, lived in Clinton township until all their children where born, then they moved to Lykeus township in Crawford county, Ohio. They are listed in the 1870 and 1880 census of Seneca County, Ohio. In 1900 they told the census taker that they had been marred for 39 years and had, had 16 children, of which 11 were living at that time. Four of their children died in infancy and their names are unknown. They both stated that they came to America in 1859 and have lived her for 41 years.
The death certificate for Henry Lucius stated he was living in the 4th Ward at 56 E. Market Street in Tiffin, Ohio when he died in 1909. The informant for his death certificate was Mrs. G. A. Kuhn, who also lived at the same address. The cause of death was chronic disease of the heart, which had existed for several years, along with pneumonia. He was buried on May 3, 1909 in St. Joseph Cemetery, Tiffin, Ohio. His death certificate shows his birth date as December 14, 1842 where other documents how it in 1941.
Henry was a member of the school board and a Township Trustee in Big Springs Township, Seneca County, Ohio.
Four of the children of Henry and Mary Mann Lucius died in Infancy, and their names are unknown.
