- Born : ? Bettembourg, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg
Pierre "Peter" Lucius died in Martelange, Luxembourg, Germany and thus never came to the United States. The story told by his descendants, is that he was studying for a government job, and was also working to support his family, and that it was too much for him. It broke his health and he died.
Peter (Shultz) Scholtus was instrumental in Mrs. Peter (Catherine Scholtus) Lucius and her children sailing for America. He emigrated about fifteen years before she did, saved his money and then sent for her. When she first arrived in Seneca County, Ohio, she and her children lived with Peter and his wife, Jane Mann, who were newly-weds.

Thanks for writing.
My wife, Donna Williams Frank, and myself visited Belgium in July of
1999. While there, we made friends with several people (some distant
relatives) who continue to research for us by visiting area archives to
We think we have found Henry Lucius because the mother was listed as
Parents of Henry L. Lucius - Pierre Lucius and Catherine Scholtus.
Pierre was born March 26, 1814 in Northomb, Luxembourg Province,
Belgium. Northomb is located on Belgium-Luxembourg border north of
Arlon. He died in April 1851 in Martelange, Luxembourg. Catherine
Scholtus was born July 13, 1813 in Schockville, Luxembourg Province,
Belgium. She died in Seneca County, OH.
Parents of Pierre Lucius - Michel Lucius born in 1753 in Beckerich,
Luxembourg and he died on August 16, 1836 in Northomb. Mother of
Pierre Lucius was Elisabeth Moris. She was born in Escdorff,
Luxembourg and died on November 5, 1836 in Northomb.
Note: When I say Luxembourg Province, Belgium that is present day where
you find the village. I don't know for sure at the time of their birth
whether the town was French, German, Dutch or Luxembourg. The borders
were changing. Belgium did not come into existence until later.
This Northomb-Schockville area also includes Attert and is an area where
others came from to Seneca County.
