      Abner C. May
      Union Carbide retiree

      Abner C. May, 79, of 8904 High St., Mc Cutchenville, died at his residence at 2:43 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998.

      He was born in Morgan County, Ky., March 21, 1919, to Reuben W. and Nannie (Dykes) May. His wife, Ruby Anita (Caudill) May, whom he married June 21, 1940, in Newport, Ky., survives.

      Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Wanda) McDermott of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Donald (Peggy) Secoy of Upper Sandusky; four sons, Leonard May of Upper Sandusky, Darrell May of Bucyrus, Larry May of Sycamore and Carlos May of Upland, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Phipps of Hazel Green, Ky.

      Preceding him in death were a son, Harold May; a grandson, Jesse; five sisters, Mary E., Dolan, Francis, Nola and Alta; and four brothers, Elza, Hager, Ernest and Elmer.

      Mr. May retired in 1981 as a machinist from Union Carbide in Fostoria, after 31 years of employment.

      He was a 46-year member of the Pieratt Masonic Lodge 725, Lee City, Ky., and served three years in the Civil Conservation Corps.

      The Rev. Brent Layne will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the First Freewill Baptist Church, Carey. Interment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.

      Visitation at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services will be at 8:45.

      Memorials may be made to Wyandot County Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
