      Norbert Wank

      NEW BAVARIA -- A funeral Mass for Norbert J. Wank, 91, of New Bavaria, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, the Rev. Stephen Stanbery officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

      Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. today at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. and a Scripture service at 8:30 p.m.

      Mr. Wank died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at his residence.

      He was born Oct. 17, 1910, in Leipsic to Henry J. and Mary I. (Zoll) Wank. He married Esther Ruhe on Sept. 28, 1937, and she died July 22, 1970. He married Viola (Ruhe) Doepker on Aug. 10, 1971, and she survives. He was a retired farmer and owner of taverns in Bradner and Leipsic. He was also a former meat cutter in Toledo, Detroit and Leipsic, a former railroad employee and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa Knights of Columbus and Ohio Farm Bureau.

      Also surviving are two sons, Paul and Thomas, both of Leipsic; two daughters, Mrs. Gerard (Nancy) Lonsway, Oregon, Ohio; and Mrs. Jerry (Connie) Miller, Kalida; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Wank; three grandchildren; a brother, Harold Wank; and four sisters, Lucille Leopold, Anna Marie Kuhlman, Martha Haller and Hilda Wank.

      Mr. Wank was a retired farmer. He also had owned taverns in Bradner and Leipsic; was a former meat cutter in the Toledo, Detroit and Leipsic areas; and was a railroad worker.

      He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa Knights of Columbus and Ohio Farm Bureau.

      He graduated from Leipsic High School, where he was on the football team.

      Memorials may be made to Putnam County Hospice or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church masses.
